It’s almost spring, and our skin is awash in hibiscus- and prickly-pear-flower acids and aloe juice—we’ve been using the just-launched GOOPGLOW flower-acid toner for a few weeks, and we’re already seeing the radiant, baby-skin results. What’s amazing is the way it works for every member of the beauty team: It’s gentle enough to use multiple times a day, even if you’ve got AHAs and retinols in your routine and even if you’ve got sensitive skin, but the results are still powerful.

“I harbor—and try to nurture—an inner Sophia Loren. I think everyone should. She projects a radical self-acceptance that eludes most of us, even (perhaps especially) the most beautiful among us. (People at the beginning of Loren’s career insisted she was not beautiful; she says she believed them. But rather than trying to twist herself into some version of what that iteration of the patriarchy thought it was looking for, she just kept going, as herself.) A cat-eye instantly connects me to that sexy, self-embracing Sophia Loren energy, whether it’s a little flick of liquid eyeliner or, more recently, these new lashes from LoveSeen. Put them on (the also-gorgeous and radically self-accepting Jenna Lyons, who founded LoveSeen, has made the putting-on part unbelievably easy with her unfinished-bronze tweezer tool) and up your glamour quotient by about 600 percent instantly, without any other makeup or even clothes. Somehow, though, they have the LoveSeen naturalness about them (the Cate, for reference, is the brand’s most natural), so that you could throw on a bathing suit (or a dress from Lisa Marie Fernandez, the most expert Loren-channeler in fashion) and run around enjoying life and you wouldn’t look overdone. I don’t know how they (LoveSeen) get the sexy-sunny-flirty balance just right, but they really do.”

“Some things are so pretty, they make me feel pretty. This glass-dropper-bottled bubble bath is like a bouquet of flowers that sits on the edge of the bathtub: Just looking at it while I soak is an enormous pleasure. Dropping the moisturizing (yet bubbling, which is something of a miracle) oil into the warm water precipitates another pleasure, as the subtle scent of rose, bergamot, and lemongrass essential oils starts to fill the air, and my skin soaks up the pure jojoba oil. Bubble bath is still rare in the world of clean beauty, but bubbles in a bath are just not to be lived without. Note that this makes the prettiest, bound-to-be-most-appreciated gift, too.”

“The magic of jasmine—not its scent, which is one of the most beautiful on earth, but its soothing, softening magic on skin—powers much of what they make at skin-loving Clark’s Botanicals, and this ultramoisturizing mask is a prime example of what an amazing ingredient it can be. Twenty minutes after smoothing it on (while in the tub), I splash it off (very easily, it should be noted) to absolutely baby-soft, can’t-believe-it, fully hydrated, renewed, supple skin. Along with jasmine, the elastic-textured, cream-almost-gel is made with algae, green tea, arnica, comfrey, radish root, vitamin E, and much, much more, so the benefits are not just the immediate nourishment but long-term free-radical fighting, radiance, and, as the brand puts it, bounce, a quality that I prize most of all. And important to know, you do not have to love the scent of jasmine (though I do) to love this mask: The totally natural scent is faintly floral, not full-on, so it’s as spirit-calming as it is skin-soothing.”

“Tucked into a corner table at Hancock St. on a recent date night, I did what I always do when I find myself at an impossibly cool, dimly lit West Village restaurant after more than half of a rum Negroni: I staked out the bathroom to, yes, wash my hands, but also to check out the hand wash. (Is it weird that I judge restaurants on the lusciousness of their bread baskets and the chicness of their hand washes?) Hancock delivered on both fronts (instead of bread, they bring out warm homemade kettle chips tossed with vinegar and Cheddar powder)—and inspired me to trick out my own bathroom with this gorgeous, botanical, pleasingly apothecary-esque set from Grown Alchemist. The hand wash is pure sweet-orange-sage-vanilla bliss and foams up like a dream, and the coconut and almond oils mixed in leave your skin supple and comfortable. The ultramoisturizing hand cream swirled with rose petal oil, rose hip, and sea buckthorn smells just as decadent. The pretty pump bottles stand tall on my bathroom sink and fancy everything up. If friends come over and secretly want to judge me on my hand wash, bring it.”

“Museum lighting is perfect for viewing art; it is nightmarishly expository and unforgiving if, like me, you’re breakout-prone. But at the opening of the new Kevin Beasley exhibit at the nonprofit Hill Art Foundation (run, don’t walk; it’s there until April 30), we were all fully illuminated—and I couldn’t have felt glowier or more comfortable in my skin. Moments before racing out, I’d splashed my face with water, then massaged on a dab of this. The beautifully rich marigold-yellow balm makes my skin come alive every time I use it. Balm is usually a hard no for blemishes, but this one makes them look and feel better, not worse. It smells like flowers and herbs—it’s handmade in Switzerland from biodynamic plant-based ingredients like rose, jojoba, and thyme oils, which work brilliantly for oily skin—the melting texture sinks right in, and it’s my new secret for an instant dewy, summertime sheen.”

“Take an especially intense Ashtanga yoga class at goop-favorite guru Eddie Stern’s SoHo studio (or do what I do most mornings and practice in your bedroom on a mat next to the radiator to make it slightly hot-yoga-y), then wash away the sweat and early-morning cobwebs with this magic turmeric cleanser. The brightening, gently exfoliating blend of bilberry, probiotic ferment, and willow bark (a natural source of salicylic acid) is instantly refreshing and somehow feels like springtime. The brand’s founder, Sejal Patel, is a pharmacist, and she tests every one of her formulations on synthetic skin models grown in a lab in the UK and prizes Ayurvedic ingredients—which I love. (Any connection to the centuries-old ancient Indian system of medicine instantly makes my ears perk up.)”

“This silkifying conditioner and softening shampoo are so good, I couldn’t even be upset with my little sister (who has curly hair to my straight) when I caught her pilfering half of each bottle to take back with her to school. Both smell beautifully of Crown Affair’s intoxicating bergamot, yuzu, and lemongrass signature scent, and the way my hair looks and feels after I’ve used them—shinier, smoother, softer, and fuller, with the most gorgeous air-dried texture I’ve ever had—makes me so happy.”

“Up north for a girls’ weekend in Vermont, I took this adorable Vintner’s Daughter mini set—and it single-handedly saved my skin. After spending the day in biting-cold temperatures with a harsh wintry mix of snow, sleet, and wind, I found the rich, skin-soothing combination of the essence and face oil totally revived and moisturized my skin.”

“Every day, I unwind from work by putting on this mask and—because the mask is brilliantly cordless—doing a quick Pilates class (I especially love the Let Go and Set Intentions routine from the Pilates Class) while I mask. (Alternately, I snuggle up in a sauna blanket, mask on, while bingeing Inventing Anna.) Either way, I leave it on for 20 minutes, and the results are brighter, smoother, plumper, more luminous skin. Since I first tried it three months ago, I keep getting those I-can’t-put-my-finger-on-it-but-you-look-great compliments from everyone, from my best friend to the waitress at dinner. And because it’s so low-maintenance and quick, it’s an easy habit to stick to.”

“I really love a nude lip for a low-key glamour that elevates my entire look. This treatment-meets-plumping-moisturizing-gloss (there are three neutral shades, and I love all three) goes beyond adding shine to really nourish your lips, soothing, softening, and hydrating with evening primrose and avocado oils, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The soft, doe-foot applicator swipes right across your lips for a your-lips-but-better finish.”

“I use this silky, luxurious serum from top dermatologist Dr. Gary Goldfaden every night, smoothing it on right before face oil. It treats overnight with powerful active ingredients like niacinamide and bakuchiol and nourishes with oils like meadowfoam, raspberry seed, and baobab. My skin drinks it up, and I can really see the difference in the morning—my face just looks dewy and well rested.”

“Since joining goop, I’ve switched to lighter-coverage foundation (my clean skin routine has helped me feel way more confident in my skin). And this one, from brilliant New York dermatologist Macrene Alexiades, is the ultimate: My skin has never looked so glowy or healthy. I smooth it on after my Unsun mineral sunscreen, and it blends seamlessly, blurring my dark spots and leaving my skin with a practically effortless, no-makeup makeup look. At the same time, hyaluronic acid, peptides, amino acids, resveratrol, and green tea help nourish, protect, smooth, and plump my skin (who doesn’t love an all-in-one?).”

“My post-Peloton-class sweat lingers in my hair and demands a thorough cleaning—it’s difficult not to shampoo every day, even though I know it’s not so good for your hair. But this lightweight, silky, shiny dream shampoo works any (or every) day of the week. The beachy blend of sandalwood, coconut, and orange blossom complements its gentle, hydrating texture. It’s moisturizing enough that I really can use it every day—and a guaranteed good hair day, every day, is a really good thing.”

“After a day of blasting NYC horns, sharp-elbowed speed-walkers, and thundering subway trains, I open my apartment door, drop my shoulder bag, and finally light this candle, which almost instantly breathes back a lost sense of calm into my psyche. Cedar, eucalyptus, vanilla bean, and frankincense rise into the air, and the flame flickers beautifully in the thick ribbed-glass container. The scent is subtle, sophisticated, simple, and homey at once; it helps me end my days feeling refreshed, calm, and beautifully taken care of.”

“Skin care is one of the main topics of conversation between my mom and me. She recently—shockingly—revealed that when I was little, she used to cover my body in petroleum jelly at night during the dusty Las Vegas winters to shield my skin from the dry air. Now my body doesn’t need that level of moisture on a regular basis, nor do I want a petroleum by-product anywhere on my skin. This set—a face oil infused with brahmi leaves, a collagen cream made with saffron and rose petals, and a lip treatment made with lavender and vanilla—is the most moisturizing little routine you will ever find. Each piece works in tandem with the next to restore the uppermost layers of my skin (there’s even a sculpting tool to help smooth it all in, and it feels incredible). There’s nothing like it for shielding my skin from a dry winter; I know my mom is going to love it as much as I do.”
